Fireworks and music in the National Park!

We’re happy to announce that Hoover’s Hometown Days will once again feature a fireworks show accompanied by the Eastern Iowa Brass Band!

As the festivities are winding down on Main Street Saturday night, pack up and head to the National Park for the grand finale.  The Eastern Iowa Brass Band will be performing on the Hoover Stage next to the library beginning at 8:30.  Come enjoy some music, and when it’s dark, the fireworks show will begin! One of the best viewing areas also happens to be right near the Hoover library in the park, so it’s the perfect place to finish up the evening.

Music in the Chautauqua Tent

Back by popular demand, Smith Studio Jazz will be performing Saturday at 11:30 in the Chautauqua Tent across from the birthplace cottage, prior to the Hoover Life Ceremony.

Last year they entertained us with a mix of swing tunes and big band arrangements to honor the life and times of Herbert Hoover. Take a trip down memory lane, check out the exhibitions in the park, and enjoy some music on Saturday this year!

Vintage Music

Another new act to Hoover’s Hometown Days, VINTAGE is a four-piece band that performs a fun mix of American classic rock and British invasion favorites. You’ll recognize the 3- and 4-part harmonies of their extensive catalog of Beatles and Eagles songs, as well as other 60s and 70s hits — and some hidden gems you probably haven’t heard in a long time.

Bring the family by the Main Street Stage Saturday at 2pm to dance and sing along!

Check out their website for a song list and some samples of what you can expect.

Saturday Music

Hoover’s Hometown Days planning is in full swing, and we want you to know we’ve got some great entertainment lined up! Saturday after the parade, head over to the Main Street Stage to check out Jordan Danielsen with Jef Spradley.

Raised in the Quad Cities, Danielsen’s music features soulful horns, electric guitars, acoustic ballads, blues and even a little hip hop. Jef provides harmonies and backup on drums and guitar. When they perform together, Jordan & Jef have a catalog of over 500 songs, including covers from the 50s all the way through today’s hits. Check out their video page for an idea of what you can expect, and make sure you’re on Main Street for the performance on Saturday, August 3rd at 11:00am!

The Swing Crew

The Swing Crew will be back this year performing Friday night at the fire station!

They’ve been crowd favorites in the past with their fun, funny, and interactive music shows. If you haven’t seen them yet, they play pretty much everything from classic rock to country, pop to swing and more, all interspersed with plenty of humor and crazy antics.  This isn’t your typical acoustic bar band.

They take requests and they’ll be on stage from 8pm to midnight on Friday!
