Get ready to Eat, Shop & Explore on Main Street on Saturday! We have an awesome line-up of vendors, food trucks, pop-up shops and activities to keep you entertained on Saturday, August 7th. Come on out to eat & shop in historic Main Street West Branch, stroll through the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, watch the 34th Annual Hoover-Ball National Championships, enjoy carnival games and pony rides or live music in a beverage garden. There’s something for everyone!

Herbert Hoover National Historic Site

Hoover’s Hometown Days wouldn’t be complete without festivities at the Herbert Hoover Historic Site and National Park! Take some time in between the shopping and games to enjoy these events and more:

Make sure to check the calendar for specific locations and times!

Road Closures & Detours

Please note that NO overnight on-street parking will be permitted in marked areas downtown. This will be enforced. Cars parked in these spots will be towed at the owner’s expense.

The following streets will be closed for Hoover’s Hometown Days on Friday, August 6th and Saturday, August 7th:

Downtown event area:

  • S. 2nd St.:   Main St. to the Water St. parking lot from 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 6th to 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 8th.
  • Main Street:  Parkside Drive to S. 2nd St. from 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7th, to 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 8th.
  • Main Street:  Parkside Drive to N. Oliphant St, (parade route) 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7th
  • S. Downey:  Wetherell to Main St. and Wetherell from S. Poplar St. to S. Downey St. from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7th.
  • N. Downey St.:  Main St. to Green St. from 2:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7th.
    • Residents on Wetherell Street will exit (temporarily) north on Poplar St. to Main St. and will access Wetherell Street via the Enlow parking lot.  The Enlow parking lot will have parking available throughout the event.

Parade line-up staging area:

  • Pedersen St.:  W. Orange St. to Hilltop Dr. on Saturday, August 7th from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
  • W. Orange St.:  N. Oliphant St. to Ridge View Dr. on Saturday, August 7th from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Hoover’s Hometown Days will have fireworks in 2021!

We have a new location and fireworks are happening! You can now view the show from Cubby Park, with musical accompaniment by Iowa Brass.

The music starts with Iowa Brass at 8:30 on Saturday night, and the fireworks show will start around 9:30.

Please complete this form by August 4th if you would like to reserve a parking spot at Cubby Park.  1st priority parking will be given to those with handicap parking permits and Veterans. You will need to arrive no later than 8:30pm. Reserved parking will be released to non registered participants after 8:30pm on August 7, 2021.
