Life Celebration featuring Lt. Governor Adam Gregg

The Hoover Presidential Foundation has confirmed Lt. Governor Adam Gregg as the keynote speaker for the Life Celebration at 1pm on Saturday, August 4th.

The event will be held at the Hoover National Historic Site, across from the birthplace cottage, and will feature patriotic music from the group, The Extension Chords, followed by short speeches from Hoover Presidential Library director, Thomas Schwartz and Hoover National Historic Site superintendent, Pete Swisher.  The Lt. Governor will then present the keynote address.

“Adam Gregg was a history major in college,” said Jerry Fleagle, president and CEO of the Foundation. “He and his family really enjoy visiting and taking in all the West Branch history.”

Many members of Hoover family will also be in attendance for the event, including Herbert Hoover’s grandson, Andy Hoover, great grandchildren Leslie Hoover-Lauble, Alex Hoover and Margaret Hoover, along with members of their families. We invite everyone to come by and meet the Hoovers and welcome them back to West Branch!

Hoover-Ball National Championships Increases Prize Pool

The top prize for the men’s and the women’s division champions has increased to $300 this year. They, along with the second and third place finishers will receive individual gold, silver or bronze Olympic-style medals from the Iowa Games, a partner of the tournament. Both men’s and women’s championship trophies have been rebuilt this year and will include plaques dating back to 1988 with the winning team’s name and its players for public display.

Online registration is now open at Hoover-Ball.org until Jul. 30 at $20 per player. Walk-up registration on game day will be $30

The Swing Crew

The Swing Crew will be back this year performing Friday night at the fire station!

They’ve been crowd favorites in the past with their fun, funny, and interactive music shows. If you haven’t seen them yet, they play pretty much everything from classic rock to country, pop to swing and more, all interspersed with plenty of humor and crazy antics.  This isn’t your typical acoustic bar band.

They take requests and they’ll be on stage from 8pm to midnight on Friday!
